CAGED by Onaiza Khan

Here’s my standard disclaimer. I was searching for books to read and ran across this one.  It was part of Kindle Unlimited, and I’m a KU subscriber so I downloaded the title  from Amazon on my own accord. The Author did not send me a copy to review, and did not request me to review this book. A rating will follow this review on Goodreads and Amazon.

I review books based on the story itself. I’m not an editor and I’m not reading these books to proof them for Authors. I’ve read classics or best sellers with mistakes in them. The only time I will let mistakes effect my review is if the mistakes made reading the book cumbersome. At that point, I will just give it a lower number rating while reviewing the actual story itself.

I don’t like reading a review that is basically the back cover blurb, or something that gives away too much of the story. Personally, I like suspense. I like to discover the details of the story as I read them. So, please enjoy this spoiler free book review!

I’m happy to announce that the eleventh book I’m reviewing on my blog is a book called CAGED by Onaiza Khan.

CAGED is a paranormal & supernatural thriller.  I have to be honest, I don’t read many fantasy novels.  Not that I don’t like them, I just have little interest in the genre.  I found it interesting though.  I especially liked the powers aspect of it.  Sometimes you don’t know what you’re capable of until you’re put in a situation where you’re forced to find out.  Because your life depends on it.

As for how the story played out, I was thrown for a loop.  I read the blurb, so I had a certain expectation.  I knew that Noor was was married to her captor, and she needed to escape…  The reasoning behind her husband stashing her away?  And the realization of who is bad and who is good?  You will not have seen it coming. There is twist after twist.  My expectation was way off.  Even the resolution…  That was surprising.  I thought that the prophesy was about to come true.  It did, but not how you thought it would…

The pop culture references was a nice touch. I am probably not the kind of reader the author had in mind, but I enjoyed the story.  It did it’s job, I was entertained for a few hours.  The cover of the book was eye catching as well.  I recommend this book to others who like a good supernatural, fantasy, paranormal thriller. I rate this book 5 out of 5!
